I hope that everyone had a safe New Years Eve, we decided to stay off the roads and celebrate at home and we even got to see the ball drop for the first time in many years (we were awake).
Looking back on 2012 I had so much going on in my life I neglected my blog, I hope to update it more often this year. Just to catch you up:
We lost my brother Aubrey after a long hard fault battle to liver cancer in Febuaury and in October we lost Steve's and my mom to lung cancer (Margaret). Margaret was like a mother to me and never treated me like a daughter in law, I miss her so much.
We spent a lot of time traveling this year:
I went to Tennessee in Febuaury to be with my brother before he passed and I went again in October for my sister in laws surprise birthday party. She turned 60 this year and they did a funeral motif and it was really cute.
A trip to Pennsylvania to see my mom at the end of March. We also went over to Lancaster and spent a couple of days going to quilt shops. Then we headed to Wheeling, WV for Steve's mom surgery on the 6th of April. I went back up after she left the hospital the 1st of May and stayed a week to help her recover.
In June I went to Wheeling and picked up Steve's 9 year old great niece Kaylee and we went over to Clearfield, Pa and picked up my 9 year old great niece Lizzy and brought them home with me for two weeks. We did so much with them while they were here: Nags Head, Busch Gardens and we even took them to Washington, Dc for a couple of days on the way to take them home. We were there when they had that tornado come through and we woke up in a dark motel room with electricity out for 50 miles. Back to Clearfield to drop off Lizzy and see my mom and then to Steve's mom's to drop off Kaylees. We spent the 4th with Steve"s family and then home again. ,
I got to go to Lancaster again in September with my quilting friends Cindy and Becky. We spent five days touring Lancaster and the quilt shops, and we had a great time. I can't wait to do it again!
We made another trip to spend Labor Day with Steve's mom and celebrated her birthday early with her. We had such good time with her and we made our way once again. In October we made our final trip to Wheeling for the year to be with Mom and say our goodbyes. I was with her when she passed and my heart is broken. I was blessed to have such a wonderful mother-in-law and friend in my life.
As you see we spent a lot of time on the road this year but we would not have missed making these special memories in our hearts. I did a lot of other things this year but I'll save that for my next post.
